Economic Opportunities Worth RM48 Billion For Bumiputeras
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has recently announced RM48 billion in economic opportunities for Bumiputeras under the Strategic Reform Initiative to bridge the inequality gap.
Najib also announced that the “Carve Out and Compete” initiative was a new development, with a special Bumiputera allocation of more than RM10 billion through various projects.
He added that in 2015, Bumiputeras will also witness continuity in programmes to enhance their access to financing and markets, such as the Teras Fund (RM2 billion), the Halal Fund (RM580 million) and the Jejak Jaya Bumiputera Scheme.
Speaking on other matters at the launching ceremony of Government Transformation Programme (GTP) 2014 and Economic Transformation Programme (ETP) 2014, Najib said that the MRT Sungai Buloh-Kajang Line project is now ahead of schedule with 59% completion as of December 2014.
He also said that the first phase of the project from Sungai Buloh to Semantan, is expected to start operations by December 2016 and be fully operational up to Kajang by July 2017. These projects have provided job opportunities to about 2,800 local engineers, with 20% of them being youngsters.
Najib also said the river clean-up project, also known as “River of Life” involving the Sungai Kelang and Sungai Gombak, was 53% complete as of December 2014. Under this project, eight river water treatment plants and four to treat waste water have been completed.
