The Official iPhone 6s Prices For Malaysia Are Finally Out!
The advent of any new iPhone is usually preceded by much anticipation and excitement. However, Malaysian fanboys have more to worry about than just picking the right colour this time around. Many have been anxiously waiting to find out just how much more the new device would cost them when they factor in the weakening Ringgit.
Wait no more, for Apple has finally released the actual retail prices for the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus on its Malaysia website.
Here is the official price list for the new iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, and how much more you will be paying for a new iPhone than you would be a year ago:
iPhone 6 (2014) | iPhone 6 Plus (2014) | iPhone 6s (2015) | iPhone 6s Plus (2015) |
---|---|---|---|
RM2,399 (16GB) | RM2,749 (16GB) | RM3,199 (16GB) | RM3,699 (16GB) |
RM2,749 (64GB) | RM3,149 (64GB) | RM3,699 (64GB) | RM4,199 (64GB) |
RM3,149 (128GB) | RM3,549 (128GB) | RM4,199 (128GB) | RM4,699 (128GB) |
There’s nothing you can do about the weakening Ringgit, and while folks in China are resorting to selling their kidneys to buy the new iPhone, you can take some less drastic measures to save money by using a credit card that gives you discounts or rebates while you spend. The price increase should come as no surprise, considering that the conversion rate for the US Dollar to the Ringgit has risen from 3.25 to 4.14 (at this point in writing) over the past year – that’s more than a 27% hike!
If you are planning on getting the latest iPhones in contract, both DiGi and Maxis have already started their pre-orders online. Both telcos are promising customers who order from now till Oct 15 that they will receive their phones by midnight on Oct 16, when the new iPhones are due for release.
