The cost savings will be used to integrate a cashless framework for the rail lines and to install WiFi routers on its coaches. This price revision is only applicable for KTM Komuter lines in the Klang Valley. Fares for KTM Intercity routes remain unchanged.
Discounts that commuters will get to enjoy include:
Category | Discount |
---|---|
Touch ‘n Go card | 20% |
Weekly passes | 20% |
Monthly passes | 30% |
School students, undergraduates, senior citizens, disabled & children (2-6 years old) | 50% |
LRT & Monorail
LRT and Monorail fares will be charged according to distance as the new ticket price would consist of a basic trip cost of RM0.70, with a formula for different blocks of distances.
For the first four km, commuters would be charged another RM0.30 per km of travel. The further the distance for a rider, the lower the price for each distance block.
The new fares will not mean higher prices for each trip, some trips will see unchanged fares or even lower than before.
For example, a trip from Pasar Seni to Cempaka by LRT which costs RM3.40 today will cost RM3.60 for token users. For those using MyRapid or Touch n’ Go cards, it will be RM3.20, the weekly passes at RM3.10 and the monthly pass at RM3.00.
The new structure will set token prices by distance with discounts of between 17% and 35% per trip for cashless riders. Cashless card users on RapidKL train lines will be able to enjoy cheaper rides with the new fare structure to encourage more commuters to migrate from cash to cashless.
Senior citizens, students and the disabled will qualify for 50% discounts, while children six years and below can ride for free.
