“This Is For Malaysians In Perlis Until Sabah”, PM Says About 11th Malaysia Plan
There is a lot of anticipation and expectation surrounding Pakatan Harapan’s first ever budget announcement. However, before that happens, the government presented its mid-way report on the 11th Malaysia Plan.
The 11th Malaysia Plan is a five-year development plan that encompasses the government’s strategies from 2016 to 2020. This current report reviewed the progress of the plan from 2016 to 2017, and outlined the government’s intentions for 2018 to 2020. Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad made some interesting and encouraging points during his presentation of the report.
According to Prime Minister, the 11th Malaysian plan is designed to benefit every Malaysian from Perlis until Sabah. The budget will cater to every race; Malays, Chinese, Indians, Iban, Kadazan, Murut, orang asli and all other ethnic groups under the Malaysian sky.
Tun Mahathir also reiterated that the plan’s focus is that it is inclusive and headed towards the goal of a united ‘Bangsa Malaysia’.
“We want a united Malaysia. We want Malaysians to succeed and enjoy the nation’s wealth,” the Prime Minister was quoted as saying.
Aside from that, the Prime Minister wants to work on reducing the income gap between the poor and the rich to make sure that people’s spending power is increased and Malaysians can enjoy shared prosperity.
“If all that is contained is implemented in this document, I am confident that Malaysia will roar again as an Asian tiger,” he added, inducing a round of supportive clamour from his fellow ministers.
“Malaysia will turn from a nation of kleptocracy to one of a true democracy and clean government. Malaysians, wherever they are in the world, can introduce themselves proudly by saying: ‘I am a Malaysian’,”
“This is our determination. This is our promise,” he said.
The 2019 budget announcement is set to take place on November 2 2018.
