Securities Commission Malaysia Adds New Names To Investor Alert List

The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) has updated its Investor Alert List. 

A new alert which occurred on 8 August 2023 said that the commission had added these new persons/entities to the Investor Alert List:

• Potential clone entity — GPT Coin
• Nerd Trade Malaysia/NT Trade
• Pelaburan Crypto Club
• One Royal

For those who are unaware, the Investor Alert List contains a list of unauthorised websites, investment products, companies and individuals. This serves as a cautionary warning to Malaysians regarding the trustworthiness of certain companies and investment opportunities.

Some of the suspicious activities that these listed entities are committing include:

• Persons carrying on or holding themselves out as carrying on the following regulated activities without a licence from the SC:
  • dealing in securities
  • dealing in derivatives
  • fund management
  • advising on corporate finance
  • investment advice
  • financial planning, and
  • dealing in private retirement schemes
• Persons operating a recognised market without authorisation
• Persons issuing or offering securities without approval, authorisation or recognition
• Persons misusing the SC’s logo and misrepresenting the SC.
