It’s Mandatory To Use Online Tax Services From September 1

Starting from 1 September 2023, Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) is mandating the usage of e-Services for taxation through the MyTax portal. The transition towards online taxation will be in stages. The aim is to further empower taxpayers through the digitalisation of the service delivery system.

The move towards online tax services is in part due to the government’s hope to gradually increase the number of fully online services. This move is expected to be fully realised by 1 January 2024.

“It is also one of the LHDN’s efforts to introduce elements of Awareness, Education and Services (AES) at all LHDN service counters,” in a statement given by LHDN on Tuesday, 22 August.

LHDN has also advised taxpayers to switch to end-to-end (E2E) services for all transactions.  Users should use LHDN’s provided online payment methods, to make sure that all transactions are secure and organised.
