You Can Use Your Credit And Debit Card To Pay For KESAS And SMART Tunnel

You can now use your credit or debit card to pay at select highway tolls through the open payment system (OPS) and Touch n’ Go, SmartTag, and radio frequency identification (MyRFID).

The announcement of the new payment system using MyDebit, credit, and debit cards came from highway operators LITRAK, KESAS and SMART via X (formerly Twitter).

During the trial period, there will be one test lane at the toll plaza that will have the NIC card terminals, which will allow payments using credit or debit cards by just tapping the terminals. American Express (AMEX) cards, however, are not supported.

The locations of the 12 highways that are implementing the OPS are as follows:

  • Butterworth-Kulim Expressway (BKE)
  • Damansara-Puchong Expressway (LDP)
  • Duta-Ulu, Kelang Expressway (DUKE)
  • Guthrie Corridor Expressway (GCE)
  • Maju Expressway (MEX)
  • New Pantai Expressway (NPE)
  • Shah Alam Expressway (KESAS)
  • Sungai Besi Expressway (BESRAYA)
  • Western Kuala Lumpur Traffic Dispersion Scheme Expressway (SPRINT)
  • Penang Bridge
  • SMART tunnel

The OPS is part of the Ministry of Work’s efforts to provide new payment methods that are convenient for highway users. It is expected that by full implementation, the system will span across 31 toll plazas and 81 lanes.
