Police Offering Up To 50% Discount On Summonses During Merdeka Ride

In conjunction with the upcoming Merdeka Ride carnival, Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) has announced a 50% discount on traffic summonses.

In a Facebook post, PDRM announced a 50% discount on summonses for selected traffic offences. The summonses can be paid at the state police booth, open from 8.00AM to 4.00PM during the Merdeka Ride Carnival.

The Merdeka Ride Carnival will be held on 26th August 2023 at the Shah Alam Stadium, and it will be open 7.00AM to 7.00PM. The carnival will also feature various events and attractions, with its main activity being the Merdeka Bike Ride.

The Merdeka Bike Ride will see participants setting off on a bike ride on a 30KM route around Shah Alam, passing major landmarks like i-City, Concorde Hotel, the Blue Mosque, and Wetpark.

Other activities at the carnival include a fun fair, a petting zoo, a martial arts exhibition, and even a classic cars autoshow.

The carnival will also see various artists performances and appearances such as Dato Awie, Hazama, Saiful Apek, Yassin Senario, and many others.

National cyclist Anuar Manan will also be making an appearance at the carnival.

However, it should be noted that the summonses discount offered is only for selected traffic summonses, and it does not include the ten major traffic offences, which are;

  • Road accidents,
  • Non-compoundable offences,
  • Dangerous overtaking manoeuvres,
  • Offences involving heavy vehicles,
  • Abusing the emergency lane,
  • Running a red light,
  • Overtaking on double white lines, and
  • Illegal exhaust system modifications.

The discount will also not apply to cases that are currently on trial, and summonses issued during Ops Selamat.
