Assets Worth RM93.2 Million Seized From Former 1MDB Lawyer, Photos Released

As part of an ongoing investigation against former 1MDB General Counsel, Jasmine Loo Ai Swan, the police has seized several high value items including Picasso paintings, Richard Mille watches, and various handbags from luxury brands.

According to the Deputy Inspector General of Police Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay, the assets were seized as it was believed that the assets were obtained as a result of the misappropriation of 1MDB funds.

He said that the seizure was conducted at a condominium in Bukit Damansara there, and from the seizure, the police also secured luxury items worth RM625,000 in the press conference.

“Among the items which were seized were a Richard Mille and a Harry Winston luxury watch, 13 handbags of various brands, a bracelet and documents,” he said in a special press conference in Bukit Aman yesterday.

The seized items from the condominium included a Richard Mille watch that is sold for around RM558,000, a Harry Winston watch that retails at RM74,756, and the most expensive handbag seized is a Hermès Birkin 30 Black Shiny Porosus Crocodile Gold Hardware, which is worth around RM238,000 used. Photos of the seized items were shared with the media outlets.

In the same press conference, he also revealed that Jasmine Loo was offered the General Counsel position in 1MDB in 2011, earning a salary of RM40,000 per month.

“Apart from that, the investigation found that Loo is the owner of a company registered in the British Virgin Isles, and she also has a joint account with Jho Low at Falcon Private Bank,” he said.

According to Singapore news daily CNA, Jasmine Loo is said to be a close associate to Jho Low, who is believed to have masterminded the 1MDB scandal.

After Malaysian authorities put out a statement saying that they were requesting information on her and other former 1MDB officials associated with the scandal, Jasmine Loo voluntarily surrendered herself to the authorities, and promised to help authorities with the ongoing investigations.
