AirAsia Renames AirAsia Super App To AirAsia Move
AirAsia has renamed its Super App to AirAsia Move, a step that signifies their commitment towards travel.
The step follows the rebranding process of AirAsia Digital, which will also be known as Move Digital.
In a press release today, Move announced that co-founder of AirAsia and CEO of Capital A, Tan Sri Tony Fernandes has been appointed as the Executive Chairman of Move.
“The name MOVE signifies us better as the digital arm of Capital A, and reiterates our commitment to move people, ideas and innovation forward within the travel space,” said Tony Fernandes in the press release.
Tony Fernandes also added that AirAsia Move will be looking to offer more functionality on their app, which will include a seamless transition between travel bookings and financial services on one single platform, which will further strengthen AirAsia Move’s status as the travel app of choice for Malaysians.
“My role as the Executive Chairman of Move will be to enhance synergy between both businesses. With this change, the market can expect an enriching user experience aside from more integration of BigPay features within the airasia Superapp (now airasia move) very soon,” added Tony Fernandes.
The press release also announced the appointment of Nadine Omar as the new Chief Executive Officer, effective 26th October 2023. Meanwhile, the current acting CEO, Mohamad Hafidz, will continue to lead the business until Nadine assumes her post.
AirAsia’s Super App is a phone app that allows users to book flights, hotels, transfers, e-hailing services, order food and even shop for duty-free goods.
Both Move Digital and BigPay are owned by Capital A, the holding company of AirAsia.
Both businesses have shown incredible growth, with Move Digital’s AirAsia SuperApp reaching 15 million monthly active users at the end of the second quarter, and BigPay seeing a 16% increase in carded users in a year-on-year period.
