TRX Mall And Tunnel To Open On Nov 29
The Exchange’s shopping mall and underground tunnel spanning 5km is set to open on the 29th of November 2023, said Work Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi.
He announced this during a working visit to view Tun Razak Exchange’s (TRX) road infrastructure.
The TRX tunnels contain three levels, with two open to all types of vehicles and one reserved for utility vehicles. It will also be equipped with a Waze Beacon, to help offer easy and unproblematic navigation for tunnel users.
The tunnel network will offer exits to a network of 12 major roads and highways including Jalan Tun Razak, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Maju Expressway (MEX), SMART Tunnel, and the Setiawangsa-Pantai Expressway (SPE).
However, it is also important to note that the addition of the TRX tunnel will no exacerbate the traffic congestion in that area, instead it will help alleviate it as the tunnel will bypass these roads.
The minister said that TRX is strategically located to facilitate access for both public transport users as well as private vehicles. He also added that the joint effort with DBKL on the recently completed Jalan Tun Razak Traffic Dispersal project can reduce the traffic into the city by about 30 percent, NST reports.
Meanwhile, TRX City Sdn Bhd’s Chief Executive Officer Datuk Azmar Talib added that the construction of the underground tunnel is a crucial part of the RM3 billion invested in developing the infrastructure around TRX. The aim is in creating a world-class urbn ecosystem with exceptional connectivity.
