Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak announced that Budget 2016 will be “recalibrated” to realistically reflect the current economic climate.

The adjustments have to be made to this year’s budget as much had changed since the budget was tabled in October 2015.

“This is to ensure that it is accurate, realistic and according to the economic situation we are currently facing,” he said when addressing Finance Ministry staff as reported by The Star Online.

No specific date was given on when the adjusted Budget would be announced, but the Prime Minister indicated that this would be done soon.

The revised budget would include extra measures to be taken to optimise expenditure and the role of Government-linked companies.

The Prime Minister assured the people’s well-being would continue to be the Government’s priority, even in the 2016 Budget adjustment.
