If you’re at the airport to travel overseas but aren’t sure if you may be blacklisted, there are now kiosks available to help you check your blacklist status.

The Immigration Department unveiled three new pre-read kiosks at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to help Malaysians check their immigration status with ease.

There are currently almost 800,000 Malaysians on the blacklist, preventing them from leaving the country. These Malaysians were blacklisted by various agencies such as the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) and the Insolvency Department.

If any of those blacklisted were to go to the immigration counter (at passport control), they will not be allowed to pass.

Immigration Department director-general Datuk Seri Mustafar Ali explained that the kiosk is a form of public service so that those affected know their status and they can call the respective agencies that put them on the blacklist to resolve their issues.
