CIMB Clicks App Closing Its Doors Soon, Replaced By CIMB OCTO

CIMB has announced that their popular mobile banking app, CIMB Clicks will be removed from the app store. It will no longer be available to download, and will be replaced by the CIMB OCTO app.

According to a CIMB announcement, the CIMB Clicks app will be removed from the app store starting from the 11th of June 2024.

The CIMB OCTO app has always been introduced as an easier way to manage your finances quickly and securely, providing a smart and personalised banking experience for CIMB, therefore it’s replacing of CIMB Clicks comes with no surprise.

CIMB Clicks still useable for now

According to the CIMB announcement, users who are still using the CIMB clicks app can still use it for the time being. Howver, they will need to prepare to move to the CIMB OCTO app, as the CIMB Clicks app will not be useable ‘for long’.

First introduced in 2023, the CIMB OCTO app has always been designed to be the eventual replacement of the CIMB Clicks app, but prior to this announcement, it was announced as an additional service to CIMB Clicks, and users were advised to have both apps on their phones.

Historically, CIMB Clicks were not seen too favorably among Malaysian mobile banking users. The CIMB Clicks app used to be plagued with multiple challenges such as connectivity issues and unfortunate maintenance time issues, so users might be happy that it’s finally being phased out.
