What is eKasih, And How You Can Apply For It

In the announcement of Budget 2025, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that alongside the Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR), 4.1 million eligible recipients will receive RM100 SARA per month.

But in order to be eligible for the SARA programme, you first need to be registered in the eKasih programme. But what is e-Kasih? That is what we’re going to explore in this article.

What is eKasih?

According to the Ministry of Women, Family, And Community Development’s (KPWKM) website, eKasih is a national database with the purpose of planning, executing and monitoring poverty eradication programmes held by the government.

eKasih also holds information regarding the individual assistance from the programmes that the head of family is receiving, applications they have made, and also the efficacy of the programmes.

So simply speaking, eKasih is a one stop database for the government regarding anything that has anything to do with the poverty eradication programmes.

Eligibility requirements for eKasih

According to the eKasih FAQs website, the eligibility criteria for eKasih is very simple, and that is only;

• Malaysian

• Household income is below the poverty threshold.

And that’s it. But what exactly is the poverty threshold? Well as the name suggests, the poverty threshold is the minimum level of income that is adequate to meet basic living needs.

So if your income is lower than the poverty threshold and you’re Malaysian, then you are eligible for e-Kasih.

How to apply for eKasih?

So now that you know the eligibility criteria of eKasih, and you have determined that you are eligible, let’s have a look at how to register.

And fortunately, the application process is just as simple as the eligibility criteria.

All you have to do is;

• Register yourself at either any Pejabat Pembangunan Negeri (state development office) near you, or any district office near you.
• Then, go to the eKasih website and check for your registration.

If you’re registered, then you’re done!
