2,471 Applications Received For EIS Scheme
A total of 2,471 people sent in applications for the recently implemented Employment Insurance System (EIS).
Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri Richard Riot Jaem said last month, 1,336 applications were approved after submitting their applications through the Social Security Organisation (Socso).
A total of RM600 were handed to successful applicants for three months.
He said Socso has dispensed RM802,800 through EIS and the first initial payout was made in the beginning of January.
Meanwhile, a collection of RM19,922,407 was received after some 240,077 employers joined the scheme and a total of RM122million was budgeted towards the system to ensure its effectiveness.
EIS is a financial scheme to aid the unemployed who lost their job due to factors such as retrenchment or resigned due to reasons including harassment. The pooled funds, which is managed by Socso, will help applicants rebuild themselves for up to six months.
The scheme also provides training for applicants to enhance their skills and obtain new jobs.
