EPF Wants Members Aged 100 And Above To Check For Unclaimed Deposits
If you have a relative or know anyone who is 100 years old or older and has contributed to the Employees Provident Fund (EPF), then you might want to check if they made their withdrawals.
EPF recently posted on their official Facebook page that they are currently working on trying to contact members who are 100 years and older who have not yet withdrawn their deposits.
Further information on their official website shows that if members do not make the claim by 31 December 2023, then the money will be transferred to Unclaimed Money Management (BWTD) under the finance ministry.
Once it has been transferred, any claims will have to be made through BWTD.
If you’re not sure whether they have made the claim or not, you can search on EPF’s website and get more information there. Members or next of kin can contact EPF contact management at 03-89226000 to get more information if their records are found in the search.
As of 31 May, the balance of unclaimed money stands at RM11.5 billion and the amount of reclaimed money is at RM3.4 billion, according to the Finance Ministry.
The ministry also noted that the number of applications received by the Registrar of Unclaimed Monies had doubled within the first five months of 2023 compared to the previous year, which amounted to RM1.3 billion.
