The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) has launched Phase 2 of the i-Lindung platform. With this, EPF members are now able to utilise funds in their Account 2 in order to acquire life and critical illness insurance, as well as other takaful products, for immediate family members.

According to a statement released on Monday, the i-Lindung platform has recorded over 118,166 policies and takaful products purchased by more than 102,301 members since its launch in July 2022 until December 2023. Some of the most popular products cover life and critical illness insurance protection at affordable premiums.

In order to capitalise on this popular response, the EPF has introduced key upgrades, focusing on policy and certificate management, geared for extended coverage exceeding one year.

EPF has stated that these improvements are a major stepping stone in the evolution of the i-Lindung platform. As such, a number of upgrades have been introduced. The upgraded platform now offers enhanced user-friendly features that facilitate streamlined policy management, convenient recurring payments for long-term protection.

EPF members who wish to purchase life insurance or other related takaful products via i-Lindung can do so through the EPF i-Akaun (Member) mobile application.

Eligibility criteria states that members below the age of 55, possessing a sufficient balance in Account 2, and registered i-Akaun users are qualified to purchase products under i-Lindung.

Additionally, those aged 55 and above can also purchase products under i-Lindung, provided they fall within the eligible entry age of related products and maintain a minimum RM100 in either Akaun 55 or Akaun Emas.
