The Best Petrol Credit Cards In Malaysia

We are a nation of people who can’t live without cars – some by preference, while most of us have no choice. For a lot of us, the present public transportation infrastructure doesn’t allow us to travel around conveniently enough – hence, we turn to private transportation to get around.

According to a Paul Tan’s survey in 2010, 29% of Malaysians consume 101 to 200 litres a month. If you are using RON95, that will cost between RM217.15 and RM430 a month!

If you’re one of the 29%, you’ll need a petrol credit card that can save you a lot of money, which you can easily apply online through our online credit card application page. Especially as petrol subsidy is scrapped and seems to be going upwards in the new managed float system, which means you’ll be spending even more than you are now.

Here we break down the three best petrol cards in Malaysia and tell you exactly what these cards are offering for you to find out which one works best for you, with the links for you to make your chosen credit card application online.

How do you decide?

After analysing these three fuel credit cards, the Maybank 2 Cards seems to offer high cash back and reward points, plus the flexibility to fuel up in any petrol station. If you fuel up and shop a lot during the weekend, this will the best card for you to have in your wallet.

However, if you are a loyal customer to Shell, Caltex and Petronas, then the HSBC Amanah MPower Visa Card-i can help you save even more. 8% cash back does sound attractive!

If you are just looking for a credit card that help you save in all aspects of travelling, be it on land, air, or sea, then the RHB Travel Money is your best bet. It offers the highest cash back rate if you fuel up on weekdays too.

Other factors to look out for are annual fees, interest rates and minimum income, which can be found on our credit card comparison page.

Fuel is an expenditure that people have to make, as long as they own a car, but by using the right card you can reduce it as much as possible (even more important with subsidies being rapidly reduced).

Be mindful that a credit card can be a useful tool or it can be a dangerous self-destructive weapon. Most of this depends on you — even the best card in the world won’t help if you spend beyond your means.
