Grab Adds 1% Fee For Credit Card Top Ups

Now, you will need to pay a fee for your credit card reloads on Grab as well.

What is the fee for Grab reload?

You will need to pay a 1% fee to reload from credit card to your GrabPay starting September 11, 2024. There is still no fee if you reload from your debit card or from your bank account. If you have a Maybank Grab Platinum Mastercard, you can still top up for free using that credit card only.

Does Grab charge for credit card top ups?

Yes, there is a fee charged for top ups. Grab refers to this as a ‘Convenience Fee’. This fee applies for both domestic and foreign issued credit cards. The only credit card that you can use for reload your GrabPay Wallet without paying this fee is the Maybank Grab Mastercard Platinum Credit Card.

This fee is charged regardless of the amount being topped-up / reloaded.

What is the percentage amount of the Grab top-up fee?

This percentage amount will show up when you are doing the transaction to top-up using a credit card. It will be shown in the  ‘Information Tool Tip’ during your transaction.

You have the option to proceed with the transaction or cancel it if you do not agree with the disclosed Convenience Fee. You have the option to cancel the transaction if you do not want to proceed with paying this fee.

What is the top-up limit for GrabPay?

There are three options for users:

  • Basic GrabPay Wallet with maximum load balance of RM500
  • Premium GrabPay Wallet with a maximum load of RM1,500
  • Business GrabPay Wallet with maximum credit holding limit of RM15,000 for users to receive payments offer goods and services

What is the foreign payment fee for GrabPay?

Payment using any foreign debit cards, foreign credit cards or foreign ewallets will incur a foreign payment fee to be charged to your account.

Similar to the convenience fee, the Foreign Payment Fee will be stated in the ‘Information Tool Tip’ when you are transacting your payment. You can opt to cancel the transaction if you do not agree with the foreign fee imposed.
