Hajj travel cost 2025

Tabung Haji has increased the costs of Hajj payments by 20% in 2025, citing rising costs of accommodation, flight tickets, and service charges as the reason.

According to the Tabung Haji’s official website, here are the new Hajj costs for 2025;

B40 – RM15,000 per person
M40 – RM23,300 per person
T20 – RM33,300 per person

For the B40 and the M40 groups, this is an increase of 21% and 23% respectively compared to last year, when Muassasah (first time) pilgrims from the B40 group only had to pay RM12,356, and RM19,152 for the M40.

87% of the cost out of Tabung Haji’s control – Tabung Haji CEO

According to Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) managing director and chief executive officer (CEO) Syed Hamadah Syed Othman, this is due to the rising costs of other expenses related to the Hajj, such as flight tickets, accommodations, and service charges.

“Accommodations, flights, and service charges makes up 87% of the total cost, and it is out of Tabung Haji’s control,” he said.

Hajj trips still heavily subsidized for B40 and M40 pilgrims

Although the costs have increased for B40 and M40 Muassasah pilgrims, the Hajj trip for these two groups is still heavily subsidized by the government.

Meanwhile, people from the T20 group will have to pay the full cost of the Hajj trip, without any subsidy from the government.

In a news report from New Straits Times, Syed Hamadah also stated that all pilgrims who are not performing the hajj for the first time will also have to pay the full amount, without any subsidy from the government.

Syed Hamadah said TH would start issuing offer letters to 31,600 selected prospective haj pilgrims in stages starting today.

He also said Malaysia had asked for an increase in the yearly haj quota, but had not received a response from the Saudi Arabia government.
