14 KL Roads To Be Closed For The King’s Installation Ceremony
It has recently been announced that 14 roads in Kuala Lumpur will be temporarily closed in stages on July 20th.
This is to ensure smooth traffic flow during the Installation Ceremony of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim as the 17th King of Malaysia at Istana Negara this coming Saturday.
Kuala Lumpur Chief of Police, Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa, said that the Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department would mobilise over 380 traffic personnel for the upcoming ceremony. These traffic personnel will have their hands full with escorting dignitaries, controlling traffic, and enforcing traffic rules and regulations.
Affected roads will close in stages from 8am to 8pm
The 14 roads that are involved with the closure include Jalan Tun Razak, Jalan Kia Peng, Jalan Raja Chulan, Jalan Ampang, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Sultan Iskandar Expressway, Jalan Tuanku Abdul Halim, Jalan Semantan, Jalan Damansara, Jalan Istana, Kuala Lumpur – Seremban Expressway, Jalan Kuching (Southbound), Dato Onn Roundabout, and Jalan Parlimen.
According to a statement, the roads involved will be temporarily closed in stages starting from 8.00am for the Installation Ceremony, and later at 8.00pm for the Royal Banquet.
The closure of the roads is to ensure that the royal guests arrive at the events on time. The roads will be reopened immediately after said guests have passed through.
The police chief also advised road users to try and avoid the affected roads during this time in order to avoid traffic congestion.
