Budi Madani Diesel Subsidy Now Open For Registration
The Ministry of Finance has announced the beginning of the new Budi Madani diesel subsidy programme. Eligible individuals, small scale farmers, and commodity farmers can now register themselves for the RM200 per month subsidy to buy diesel.
To qualify, individuals will need to satisfy the following criteria:
- Is a Malaysian citizen
- The private vehicle is registered with the Road Transport Department and excludes luxury vehicles under 10 years old.
- Has an active road tax.
- Has an income (individual or household) of less than RM100,000 per year.

At the moment, there is no official definition of what qualifies as a luxury vehicle. However, the FAQ issued by the MOF clarifies that there are additional conditions for individuals applying for the Budi subsidy. In this case, the vehicle used must not be:
- A diesel powered motorcycle.
- A diesel powered private vehicle that has been registered for use by a company or organisation.
- A vehicle registered for e-hailing.
- Any caravan, motorhome, tour van, or tour bus.
Applications will also be cross-checked with LHDN records to ensure that all individuals that receive the subsidy meet the income requirements.

Successful applicants that registered before 3 June 2024 will receive their first RM200 subsidy as a direct bank deposit in the middle of June. Following this, applicants will receive their subsidies within two weeks of being approved; which will be followed by the normal monthly payments.
