Malaysians Will Be Able To Renew Their Driving License And Road Tax Online
Malaysia’s Transport Minister, Anthony Loke has announced that Malaysians will be able to renew their driving licence and road tax online, starting from the 1st of February 2024.
According to a report from The Star, Anthony Loke made the announcement in a press conference after a working visit to the Selangor Road Transport Department (JPJ) in Shah Alam.
During the press conference, Anthony Loke announced a slew of new features coming on the MyJPJ app, which includes a feature that allows users to share their road tax with anyone they choose to, online renewal of road tax and licences, and others.
The road tax sharing feature is designed to allow Malaysians to display their road tax online while driving vehicles that do not belong to them.
In his announcement, Loke also stated that a RM5 rebate will be given for Malaysians who choose to renew their driving licence online from 1 February 2024 to 31 December 2024, to encourage Malaysians to renew their licence online.
Loke also added that the digital system is not compulsory, so Malaysians who are not ready to renew their licence or road tax digitally can still opt for a physical licence and road tax.
