From 2025 onwards, all Social Security Organisation (Perkeso) contributors will not have to pay for medical treatment at panel clinics for work-related accidents and occupational diseases. This announcement was made by the Human Resources Minister Steven Sim Chee Keong.
According to the minister, there are approximately 1,400 Perkeso panel clinics nationwide. Contributors will be able to walk into any of these clinics and get free medical treatment. Previously, one would have to fork out around RM150 to RM200 for each treatment before being able to claim the amount back from Perkeso.
If you are a Perkeso member, all you need to do is show your ID card for the clinic to check. You would thus be able to receive treatment without having to pay a single sen.
Members can still seek treatment at non-panel clinics and apply for reimbursement of expenses incurred. According to Perkeso, application can be made to SOCSO and the reimbursement is subject to Fees Act 1951.
Following are the medical benefits Perkeso contributors are entitled for employment injuries or occupational diseases:
- free medical treatment at SOCSO’s panel clinic or Government clinic / hospital until they are fully recovered
- medical care from Government hospitals second class ward treatment for serious injuries including specialist treatment if required
- claim for reimbursement of expenses incurred in respect of medical treatment at SOCSO’s non-panel clinic
On Feb 4, Deputy Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Mohamad said that 66,574 work-related accident cases were recorded nationwide throughout 2024, a decrease of 2.4 per cent compared to 68,220 cases in 2023.
