PLKN 3.0: National Service Training Resumes In January 2025
The relaunch of the National Service Training Programme (PLKN) 3.0 will involve 130 volunteers aged between 18 and 20 years old only.
PLKN 3.0 relaunched on Sunday, January 12 as a pilot project. This trial run will take place for 45 days until February 25. The programme is taking place at the 515 Territorial Army Regiment Camp in Kuala Lumpur.
Phase 1 from January 12 to February 25
This trial phase is to evaluate the new syllabus for the actual programme to be rolled out nationwide. 80 men and 40 women are taking part in Phase 1 of the trial run.
Mindef has shared the activities of this trial phase on Facebook showing the volunteers enthusiasm with many travelling great distances to take part.
PLKN 3.0 training module and schedule
According to Mindef, PLKN 3.0 is based on the National Service Training Act 2003 (Act 628), National Security Policy, Defence White Paper and other relevant policies. It combines the National Service Training Core Component and the National Service Training Outcome Component.
PLKN 3.0 training module consist of 70 per cent of Basic Military Training and 30 per cent of Statehood Components.
The Basic Military Training module will equip participants with basic military skills, national security policy, basic well-being of Malaysia MADANI and leadership skills. Meanwhile, the Statehood Component module is to expose participants to elements of identity, patriotism and strengthening unity.
The trial run will consist of 3 phases spread over January to October 2025.
Phase 1: January 12 – February 25
Venue: 515 Territorial Army Regiment Camp, KL
Phase 2: May 11 – June 24
Venue: 515 & 505 Territorial Army Regiment Camps in KL and Pekan, Pahang
Phase 3: September 7 – October 21
Venue: 515 & 505 Territorial Army Regiment Camps in KL and Pekan, Pahang
Earlier, the Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Noordin had also told the media that the outcomes of this volunteer trial phase will be assessed and made public. This is to enable improvements before the actual programme is implemented on a large scale. The implementation will involve public universities, polytechnics, teacher training institutes as well as Public Skills Training Institutes and Industrial Training Institutes across the nation.
