In order to ensure smooth travel during the Deepavali holidays, PLUS Malaysia Bhd (PLUS) has released a travel advisory for travellers who will be using their highways.
According to reports, more than two million vehicles a day will be using PLUS highways on their drive to their hometown, so prudent planning is imperative for travellers to ensure smooth travels.
To help with the planning, PLUS has released a Travel Time Advisory (TTA) Deepavali schedule for the North-South Expressway (NSE) from Nov 10 to 14.
Different travel time advisory for north, central and southern destinations
In the TTA, PLUS advises road users travelling from the Klang Valley to Perlis, Kedah, Penang and northern Perak to start their journey from 8AM to 11AM, while those travelling to Central Perak should leave at 4PM to 7PM.
For southern destinations, travellers heading to Johor and southern Melaka are advised to travel from 10am to 1pm, while those heading to Negri Sembilan and Melaka are advised to head out from 1pm to 4pm.
The TTA also advised that people who are travelling to other destinations should begin their travels after 10PM.
“This TTA schedule is provided to assist highway users in planning their journeys and enable PLUS to distribute traffic more evenly, preventing vehicles from converging at critical locations on the highway simultaneously.
“However, traffic flow also depends on unforeseen events such as accidents and other factors that may disrupt travel on the highway,” PLUS said in a press release earlier this week.
Get traffic updates on PLUS’s X account
In the same press release, PLUS also urged road users to get frequent updates on traffic conditions from various other channels such as on PLUS’ official X account, the PLUS smartphone application, PLUS’ Putri Chatbot, and electronic sign boards on the highway.
PLUS also advised users to make use of their newly launched My-TTA Public Pilot via the PLUS App to help ensure smoother traffic for road users.
