PR1MA House Prices Will Not Increase Post-GST
Houses built by Perbadanan PR1MA Malaysia (PR1MA) will not increase in price after the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) come April 1, said Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim, Minister from the Prime Minister’s Department.
The prices of these affordable housing will be maintained even after the GST implementation, he added.
“PR1MA houses will still be sold 20% lower than the market price,” he said in reply to a supplementary question from Mohd Fasiah Mohd Fakeh (BN-Sabak Bernam) at the Dewan Rakyat.
Mohd Fasiah asked during the Dewan Rakyat session whether GST will have any impact on the price of PR1MA houses.
To date PR1MA had approved 119,933 housing units across 95 projects in the country, said Shahidan.
“The total number of housing projects will change and continue to increase from time to time based on approvals made by PR1MA. Of the 95 projects, 30 received planning approval involving 28,353 units across the country. They are now at various development stages,” he said.
A total of 9,308 units of afforadable houses across Malaysia are already in construction by PR1MA. These units are located in the Federal Territories, Kedah, Johor, Perak and Negri Sembilan.
To a question from Sim Tong Hin (DAP-Kota Melaka) whether PR1MA was prepared to build more houses in Malacca, Shahidan said that in principle, the Government was agreeable to the idea.
“We are still discussing with PR1MA on the matter but we have to iron out certain issues first,” he said.
