RM100 E-Wallet Credit For M’sians Earning Under RM100,000 Annually
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced a windfall of RM100 e-wallet credit for Malaysians earning RM100,000 and below annually. The announcement was made in a speech while launching the Madani Economy: Empowering the People economic framework launch today.
In his speech, Anwar Ibrahim said that the incentive was spurred by the success and significant impact of the e-wallet credit rollout programme implemented in the past.
“The estimated number of eligible recipients is expected to be around 10 million rakyat comprising those of the B40 and M40 with allocations of around a billion ringgit,” he said.
In his speech, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim also singled out the success of the eBeliaRahmah (eBR) programme, saying that it benefitted two million youths, along with creating a cashless society.
“Seeing the success of that ewallet credit programme, the government agrees to offer a RM100 ewallet credit to adults,” said Anwar.
Along with the RM100 e-Wallet credit programme, Datuk Seri Anwar also announced a special appreciation welfare assistance of RM300 that will be given to civil servants below Grade 56 and RM200 to civil service retirees, which also includes those who have not received their pensions.
“This special assistance will benefit 1.3 million civil servants, including contract appointments, as well as more than one million retirees,” he added.
In his speech, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim also reiterated that the main goal of the Madani Economy is to empower the government, NGOs, and Malaysians themselves.
