RM100 Govt Aid For Eligible School Children Is Ready For Collection
Financial aid of RM100 for school-going children is now ready to be collected from their respective government schools nationwide by parents of 3,089,868 eligible students.
A total of RM308.9mil was allocated for the aid to 10,234 schools nationwide, said Deputy Education Minister Datuk Chong Sin Woon.
“The aid is to enable families with a household income of less than RM3,000 to use the cash to buy books and other related items for their children,” said Chong.
The aid aims to help parents who are burdened by additional expenses at the start of the new school term.
Instead of giving the money to the students, which they may lose, the schools will be giving the money to the parents.
He added that 1,692,187 recipients are from 7,797 primary schools and 1,397,681 are from 2,437 secondary schools.
The highest number of recipients are in Selangor with 409,454 students, Johor with 385,512 students, Sabah with 381,174 students and Sarawak with 341,774 students.
The 61,701 eligible Form Six students will be able to collect the Siswa 1Malaysia discount debit card issued by Bank Rakyat from their respective schools, he added.
The debit card will contain RM250 to buy books from approved bookstores.
