E-commerce giant Shopee has recently announced some changes to their commission and transaction fees. These changes are wide-sweeping and will affect sellers across its platform. The changes are set to take effect from 1 August onwards.

Changes to marketplace commission fees

There will be an adjustment in the Marketplace Commission Fee. The new rates are as follows:

Additionally, the Shopee marketplace commission fee will be incurred once the seller has been selling on the platform for more than 120 days.

The number of days starts from the day of the seller’s first product listing on the Shopee platform. The Commission Fee will only be incurred on day 121 onwards.

Changes to transaction fees

According to Shopee’s latest announcement, Shopee’s transaction fee will be revised to 3.5% (not inclusive of 8% SST). This will also take effect on 1 August and onwards.

All local Marketplace sellers (Non-Shopee Mall sellers) and Mall sellers are charged Transaction Fees to cover payment gateway fees that apply to all online transactions by the service providers upon successful orders by buyers.

Since the e-commerce landscape is very fast-paced and constantly evolving, fee adjustments can occur quite frequently across platforms.

Sellers are advised to keep informed and up to date with the latest information regarding these changes in order to thrive in the ever-moving world of online retail.
