This satellite broadband service under SpaceX that aims to bring low latency, high-speed broadband internet to meet the needs of consumers across the globe. Starlink also claims to provide better performance than traditional GEO satellites.
Based on Starlink’s page, a standard unit will be able to give us a download speed of around 25-100Mbps and an upload speed of 5-10Mbps. The expected latency of the service will be between 25-60ms. This is more or less comparable to 4G services that are currently available, though Starlink will likely be a viable alternative in more rural areas.
This standard plan will set you back by RM220 per month, with hardware and shipping costing RM2,400.
Customers can also opt for high performance hardware. However, this costs a whopping RM11,713 including handling and shipping. This high performance kit is designed for improved weather resistance. It also offers 3x speeds at temperatures above 35 degrees Celsius. Due to its pricing, it is recommended for power users and enterprise applications.
One upside to Starlink is a generous trial period. According to their website, users can try the service for 30 days and seek a full refund by returning the hardware if they are unsatisfied with the product.
