By now, most Malaysians who are eligible and have applied for the Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) payout have already gotten their money in their bank account in 2024.  So if you still haven’t gotten your payment, maybe you should check your STR status, and appeal your status if need be. Go to the section below on how to check your STR status.

How to apply for Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR)

This cash aid programme is only open to Malaysian citizens staying in the country who are eligible.

Who is eligible for STR?

The first thing you want to do if you have been rejected for your STR, is you should recheck the eligibility requirements of STR.

You are eligible for STR if you fit any of the following criteria;

  • Malaysian with an income of RM5000 and below for a household and a single elderly person.
  • Malaysian with an income of RM2500 and below for a single person.

If you fit any of the above criteria, then you are eligible for the STR payout.

How much is the STR cash aid?

  • Households with income under RM2,500
    No children: RM 1,000
    1-2 children: RM 1,500
    3-4 children: RM 2,000
    5 or more children: RM 2,500
  • Households with income from RM 2,501 to RM 5,000
    No children: RM 500
    1-2 children: RM 750
    3-4 children: RM 1,000
    5 or more children: RM 1,250
  • Senior citizens without spouses or children with income under RM5,000 (age 60 and above): RM600
  • Single individuals or OKU without children with income under RM2,500 (21 to 59 years old): RM600

Documents you need to apply for STR

  • For applying under household as a couple
    Copy of your own and your partner’s MyKad, birth certificate or passport
    Copy of the Marriage Certificate issued by the Department of Islamic Religion State/National Registration Department (JPN)
  • For applying as single applicant/ widow/ widower/ divorcee
    Copy of MyKad
    Copy of the Marriage Certificate issued by the Department of Islamic Religion State/National Registration Department (JPN); or
    Copy of spouse’s Death Certificate issued by JPN; or
    Divorce/Dissolution of Marriage Certificate (original and certified copy) issued by the State Department of Islamic Religion/JPN; or Copy of Certificate of Decree Nisi/Absolute Decree Nisi issued by the Court
    Copy of OKU Card issued by the Department of Social Welfare (JKM) for applicants aged 19 to 20 years old in 2025
  • For children applying under either category above
    Copy of MyKad/MyKid
    Copy of Birth Certificate or Adopted Child Registration Certificate

STR application steps

  1. Go to the STR portal at https://bantuantunai.hasil.gov.my
  2. For new applicant, click on ‘Permohonan Baharu ‘
  3. Type in the information requested which includes IC number, home address, mobile number, marital status, bank and account number, beneficiary and their information.
  4. Upload the documents requested at the bottom of the page.
  5. Click on ‘Teruskan’ and complete the user verification step (Captcha code).
  6. Once the application is successfully submitted, you will receive the message to register your MySTR account to check your application status online.

You can also apply manually at your nearby LHDN or UTC branch. Remember to bring along the original and copy of the documents you need to submit.

Applications can be made throughout the year but the cash aid distribution will be made according to the schedule set by LHDN.

Checking your STR status

So you think you should be receiving your STR anytime soon, but all your friends have gotten theirs, while you’re still waiting. So what do you do now? Simple, you check your status to see if you actually qualify for the STR payout.

How do you do that? Here’s how.

The first thing you want to do is get yourself to the official STR page right here.

Once you’re there, here’s what you will see.

What you want to do now is fill in your IC number in the top left-hand corner, and log in.

Once you’re logged in, what you want to do next is click on the MySTR section, where you will see your status right there.

If your status is “dalam pengkreditan’, then all you have to do is wait, and your payout should arrive in your bank account anytime soon.

But if your status is rejected, then here’s what you need to do.

Eligibility requirements of STR

The first thing you want to do if you have been rejected for your STR, is you should recheck the eligibility requirements of STR. Refer to the eligible requirements above. 

Appealing your STR status

Want to appeal your STR status? Here’s how you do it.

The two methods that you can appeal your STR status is as follows;

  • Online application through the official STR website.
  • Physical application at your nearest LHDN office.

It is recommended that you use the online application process, as it is safer and faster than the physical application process.

For the appeal process, you’re going to need to provide some supporting documents as proof of your changed status.

Some of the documents that you might need to provide is a copy of your own or your partner’s MyKad, a copy of your children’s MyKid or MyKad, a copy of your child’s birth certificate, and other documents that will be announced by LHDN.

STR is a good initiative to ensure that every Malaysian has all the help they need for their livelihood. So make sure you don’t miss out, and check your STR status and appeal if you need to!
