You Can Soon Link Two WhatsApp Accounts To One Phone

WhatsApp has recently introduced the ability to have two accounts active on a single Android device at the same time. This feature is incredibly helpful as it allows users who utilises both a personal and work account to switch between the two seamlessly on a single device. This eliminates the need to carry two phones around the place.

To set up a second account, you will need a second phone number and SIM card, or a phone that accepts multi-SIM or eSIM. Simply open your WhatsApp settings, click on the arrow next to your name, and click “Add account”. You can control your privacy and notification settings on each account.

If you are wondering why a second phone number is still needed, this is because the second WhatsApp account still needs to be tied to a phone number which is one of the service’s long-standing policies.

As part of WhatsApp’s security features, a one-time passcode (OTP) will be sent to the second phone number during the initial verification process. This necessitates a second phone or a multi-sim compatible phone.

Once the verification process is done, you will no longer need the second phone, nor the second SIM card that you might have used. In the meantime, it might take some time before this new feature becomes available on your device. If your WhatsApp has yet to update, then you will have to wait until it does.
